Members Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all members of Levels Whitehaven Community Interest Company (CiC) (“Levels Whitehaven”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By becoming or remaining a member, you agree to comply with these Terms.

1. Membership Purpose

Levels Whitehaven CiC exists to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for learning, creativity, wellbeing, and community development. Membership is a privilege, not a right, and is granted on the basis of mutual respect and shared values.

2. Member Conduct & Behaviour

All members are expected to behave in a manner that supports a positive and welcoming environment.

2.1 Expected Behaviour

Members must:

  • Treat staff, volunteers, and other members with dignity and respect

  • Follow reasonable instructions given by Levels Whitehaven staff or representatives

  • Act responsibly while on Levels Whitehaven premises or when participating in activities

  • Respect the physical space, equipment, and property of Levels Whitehaven

2.2 Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviour will not be tolerated:

  • Aggressive, threatening, intimidating, or abusive behaviour

  • Harassment, bullying, discrimination, or victimisation of any kind

  • Disruptive behaviour that negatively affects others’ ability to participate

  • Damage to property or misuse of equipment

  • Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol where it impacts safety or conduct

  • Any illegal activity

3. Language & Communication Standards

Levels Whitehaven is committed to maintaining a respectful environment.

Members must not use:

  • Abusive, offensive, or aggressive language

  • Hate speech, including language that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory

  • Threatening, intimidating, or deliberately inflammatory language

This applies to:

  • Spoken communication

  • Written communication

  • Online platforms, social media, or messaging channels connected to Levels Whitehaven

4. Safeguarding & Inclusion

Levels Whitehaven CiC is committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Members must:

  • Act in a way that supports safeguarding principles

  • Report any safeguarding concerns to staff promptly

  • Follow all safeguarding and inclusion policies in place

Failure to do so may result in immediate action, including suspension or revocation of membership.

5. Membership Suspension & Revocation

5.1 Right to Take Action

Levels Whitehaven CiC reserves the right to:

  • Issue verbal or written warnings

  • Suspend membership temporarily

  • Revoke membership permanently

This may occur if a member:

  • Breaches these Terms & Conditions

  • Behaves in a way that puts others at risk

  • Brings Levels Whitehaven into disrepute

  • Repeatedly fails to follow reasonable instructions

5.2 Immediate Revocation

In serious cases (including violence, threats, harassment, hate speech, or safeguarding concerns), membership may be revoked immediately and without prior warning.

5.3 Refunds

Where membership is revoked due to a breach of these Terms, no refunds will be issued unless otherwise required by law.

6. Appeals

Members may request a review of a suspension or revocation decision by submitting a written appeal within 14 days of notification.
All decisions following a review are final.

7. Health & Safety

Members must:

  • Follow all health and safety guidance provided

  • Take reasonable care of their own safety and the safety of others

  • Report hazards, incidents, or injuries to staff immediately

Levels Whitehaven CiC reserves the right to refuse access to anyone who poses a safety risk.

8. Data Protection

Personal information is handled in accordance with UK data protection legislation and our Privacy Policy. Membership details will only be used for legitimate organisational purposes.

9. Changes to These Terms

Levels Whitehaven CiC may update these Terms from time to time. Members will be notified of significant changes, and continued membership constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
