IMMERSIVE CONTENT CREATOR WORKSHOPS
[Immersive Content Creators (the main thread — Weeks 1, 2, 4 & 6)]
This summer, young people in Whitehaven can become Immersive Content Creators at Levels. Across four linked weeks, our film-makers take a real production from first idea to finished piece: planning and pre-production (Week 1), a hands-on filming week with a day out on location capturing 360° footage (Week 2), voice and narration in Voice Acting 101 (Week 4), and post-production to pull it all together (Week 6). Participants get involved in every stage — planning, capture, storytelling, narration and editing — and the result is a genuine, showcase-quality immersive 360° film celebrating a local heritage site, a piece that will be shared and used well beyond the summer.
We’ve teamed up with Keith Myers of AVimmerse, a creative technology studio specialising in immersive storytelling, 360° video, XR and digital heritage, who has taught immersive production at the University of Manchester, Liverpool John Moores University and the UK’s first Unity Centre of Excellence at MediaCity.
From September, Phase 2 adds augmented reality and VR elements
Please note, the 360′ Immersive Content Summer Club involves a trip, and filming on location on 8th and 29th of August!
Board Game Design & Build
[Weeks 3 & 5]
Running alongside is our Board Game Design and Build strand.
Learners design their own games from the ground up — concept, rules, mechanics and play-testing (Week 3) — then bring their ideas to life by 3D printing their own pieces and components (Week 5).
It’s a creative, hands-on route into design thinking, problem-solving and digital making, with a finished game to take home and be proud of.
